Choose a topic to understand what to discuss with a doctor and how to prepare an enquiry to Artemis Hospitals. If your diagnosis is not listed, call to discuss whether an enquiry is possible.
Cancer conditions
Breast cancer
Breast cancer is a malignant tumour of breast tissue. A lump or skin change needs medical assessment but does not by itself confirm cancer.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryColorectal cancer
Colorectal cancer starts in the colon or rectum. Blood in the stool or persistent bowel changes need medical assessment; there can be several causes.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryCervical cancer
Cervical cancer is a malignant tumour of the lower part of the uterus. A positive HPV test or abnormal screening does not itself mean cancer; further assessment is needed.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryProstate cancer
Prostate cancer can behave in different ways. A raised PSA alone does not confirm cancer; a urologist assesses diagnosis and risk using the full set of findings.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryStomach cancer
Stomach cancer is a malignant tumour of stomach tissue. Pain or discomfort cannot establish the diagnosis; a doctor may arrange endoscopy with biopsy.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryLung cancer
Lung cancer includes different types, such as small-cell and non-small-cell cancer. Cough alone does not confirm a tumour; persistent symptoms need assessment.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryLiver cancer
Primary liver cancer and another cancer spreading to the liver are different diagnoses. Liver function and disease extent matter when selecting treatment.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryHead and neck cancers
ENT cancer is a broad expression, not a precise diagnosis. Head and neck cancers involve different sites, including the larynx, pharynx, sinuses and salivary glands.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryLaryngeal cancer
Laryngeal cancer affects the voice box. Persistent hoarseness needs assessment but does not by itself prove cancer.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryNasopharyngeal cancer
The nasopharynx lies behind the nose. Cancer here differs from laryngeal cancer and requires a separate plan.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryOral and tongue cancer
Cancer may affect the tongue, floor of the mouth and other sites. A non-healing change needs examination, but causes vary.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryChildhood conditions
Childhood asthma
Asthma involves airway inflammation and narrowing. Recurrent cough or wheezing in a child needs paediatric assessment.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryEnlarged adenoids in children
Enlarged adenoids can affect nasal breathing, sleep or hearing. A paediatric ENT specialist clarifies the cause of symptoms.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryChildhood epilepsy
Epilepsy involves recurrent seizures. One episode does not always mean epilepsy; a doctor establishes the diagnosis.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryCongenital heart disease in children
Congenital heart defects are structural differences formed before birth. Severity and treatment needs vary widely.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryChildhood acute lymphoblastic leukaemia
Acute lymphoblastic leukaemia affects blood and bone marrow. Not all childhood leukaemias are this type.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryOther conditions
Coronary heart disease
Coronary heart disease restricts the heart muscle’s blood supply through narrowed coronary arteries. A planned consultation cannot replace emergency care.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryOsteoarthritis
Osteoarthritis can cause pain, stiffness and reduced movement. Knees and hips are often affected, but symptoms require assessment to confirm the diagnosis.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryHerniated disc
A herniated disc can irritate a nerve and cause pain or numbness. An MRI finding does not always explain symptoms; a specialist examination is needed.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryChronic kidney disease
Chronic kidney disease means lasting damage to kidney structure or function. Severity is assessed through tests, not symptoms alone.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryType 2 diabetes
In type 2 diabetes, the body does not use insulin effectively. This chronic condition requires regular monitoring and an individual care plan.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryLiver cirrhosis
Cirrhosis replaces healthy liver tissue with scarring. Causes vary; diagnosis does not mean everyone immediately needs a transplant.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryLiver transplant
Transplantation replaces a diseased liver with a donor liver or part of one. It is a procedure, not a disease.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryGallstones
Stones may form in the gallbladder. They do not always cause symptoms; treatment depends on symptoms and complications.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryKidney stones
Stones can occur in the kidney or ureter. Size, location and urine-flow obstruction affect treatment.
Treatment and preparing an enquiryChronic sinusitis
Sinusitis is inflammation of the sinuses. Persistent or recurring symptoms need cause assessment by an ENT specialist.
